Hair Loss Treatment: Hair Transplant or Microneedling with PRP?

Differences between Microneedling with PRP and Hair Transplant

Both of these methods are safe and effective hair restoration treatments. Both provide great aesthetic results that counteract hair loss or thinning hair. However, microneedling with PRP stimulates natural hair growth both in the number and density of hair from existing hair follicles, while hair transplant relocates hair follicles from one part of your body to your scalp through a surgical procedure.

Additionally, the treatment procedures for hair transplant and Microneedling with PRP are very different.

Hair Transplant for hair loss

A surgeon cleans your scalp and injects medicine to numb your scalp. Your surgeon will choose one of two methods for the transplant: follicular unit strip surgery (FUSS) which removes and replants a strip of hair or follicular unit extraction (FUE) which removes and then replants individual hair follicles. The benefits and drawbacks of each method can be discussed by your Dr. The overall procedures are longer than PRP. And the benefits of new hair growth will take longer than PRP.

Microneedling with PRP for hair loss

Our Dermatologist will numb the scalp 30-45 minutes before the procedure. When the scalp is sufficiently numb, the dermatologist uses a medical-grade derma roller to create micro-injuries into the scalp. Then she will inject activated PRP solution to stimulate hair follicle into the growth phase and trigger our body’s natural healing process. The procedure takes 30 to 45 minutes depending on hair density and area to be treated. New hair growth is noticeable within 4 – 6 weeks.

Expense

Hair transplant costs considerably more than Microneeding with PRP. On average you can spend 60 million to 200 million VND for a hair transplant depending on the area to be treated and the desired density. The cost of hair restoration treatment with PRP at Grace Skincare Clinic varies from 12-14 million per hair loss treatment. Many clients were happy after two treatments, while some may require 3 treatments to achieve optimum results.

Hair transplants or Microneedling with PRP for hair loss?
